I don’t even know where to start this review. I have dabbled with B. Celeste in the past and honestly, I loved her other books. But wow… this book was SLOOWWWWWWWW. See GIF below for how I felt trying to finish this book:
There was nothing particularly good or bad about this book, but I feel like it was so long and drawn out to get to its conclusion. This book could have basically been cut in half and I think I’d have felt the exact same way about the characters and the story.
Please note I am not a writer and this is my blog/review so you get to hear my opinion.
Piper is now the caretaker of her first love’s young child after both him and his wife died tragically (in separate incidents). She carries some guilt about the accident that killer her best friend/first love and now, with having a child, she’s put herself on the back burner.
Enter two men – one with a mysterious past – and the other from her past. Both relationships develop as they run conterminously with one another.
Let’s Talk About (the) Sex, Baby!
This gets a medium rating because there is sex in it. That’s it. Nothing worth remembering, in my opinion.
Again, there is nothing particularly bad about the writing or the story it was just SO FREAKING SLOW. I was really struggling to finish it and it’s not like it was a slow burn that led to this huge revelation or crescendo.
I liked the female main character but I think you needed more of her past to put her “into context”.
Maybe multiple POVs would have better captured my attention. I think this will the first in a series but I’m not sure I’m dedicated enough to finish the series and/or start the next book.
